Alumni Game - November 27, 2004
After a week of torrential rains, the skies cleared over central Texas, and the 2004 Westwood alumni game was played under nearly ideal conditions. Approximately two dozen alums returned from Colorado, Utah, Virginia, Boston, Lubbock and Dallas to play the varsity squad in the traditional Thanksgiving weekend scrimmage. It was the coaching debut of Varsity coach John Maggio, and Junior Varsity coaches Paul Sowada and assistant Steve Scanlon. Even former varsity coach (and current Westlake Varsity coach) 'Crease Monkey' David Lapin played during the first half. Tradition and the alums prevailed, 10-4. The Junior Varsity squad looked formidable in their 3rd quarter exhibition, setting high expectations for the upcoming season. Following the game, everyone feasted on the grilled 'dawg' culinary delight.
