Widespread Panic

Widespread Panic is an American rock band from Athens, Georgia. The current lineup includes guitarist/singer John Bell, bassist Dave Schools, drummer Todd Nance, percussionist Domingo "Sunny" Ortiz, keyboardist John "JoJo" Hermann, and guitarist Jimmy Herring. The Moody Theatre featured the band during South by Southwest 2011 on Thursday night (March 17), so nearly 2,000 Spreadheads snapped up tickets. By midshow there was a healthy cloud of marijuana smoke and a throng of eager fanatics dancing to Widespread Panic's recent releases, including a rumbling rendition of longtime favorite, Tom Waits' "Goin' Out West."

He has also played with the Allman Brothers Band, Project Z, Derek Trucks Band, and had a long and successful tenure with Phil Lesh and Friends as well as The Dead.   • John "JoJo" Hermann is the longtime keyboard player (since 1992) with Widespread Panic. John "JoJo" Hermann was born in New York City then moved to Oxford, Mississippi after college. He toured the South extensively with the band Beanland before joining Widespread Panic in Athens, Georgia.  He resides in Franklin, Tennessee with his wife and two daughters.
