Dunwells, The
Everywhere I look I see The Dunwells in 2013 - festivals, TV, youTube. That probably speaks to the talents of longtime Texas music executive Kevin Wommack, who signed the band to his Austin-based label "Playing in Traffic" in the spring of 2011 (the label also manages Los Lonely Boys and Sahara Smith). Originally formed in 2009 in West Yorkshire, England, the Dunwells specialize in the kind of rootsy songwriting that also brings to mind the vocal harmonies of Crosby, Stills & Nash and Mumford and Sons. They have been performing in local pubs and clubs in the band members’ hometown of Leeds, and then started near-non-stop touring in the UK and Europe, paying their dues and building a buzz. The Dunwells consist of two brothers (Joseph/vocals, guitars and David Dunwell/guitars, piano, banjo), two cousins (Jonny Lamb/vocals, drums and Rob Clayton/bass), and a best friend (Dave Hanson/guitar, pedal steel). They released their debut album, Blind Sighted Faith, on 14 February 2012 which was recorded in Willie Nelson's Pedernales (Texas) studio. Singles of note include "Elizabeth", "So Beautiful", “I Could Be A King,”“Only Me” and the rousing “Follow The Road”. Visit their website, http://thedunwells.com/.
